Description
General Summary
Responsible for assisting with the organization, promotion, administration, and supervision of the Member Activities department. Ensure Member Activities team members provide fun, enthusiastic, and safe programs that encourage member participation. Assist with ensuring department meets monthly revenue goals while providing innovative and high quality programs and services. Provide leadership and direction to all Member Activities team members.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Member Experience
1. Exhibit outstanding customer service by developing positive relationships with members
2. Promptly respond to member inquiries regarding Member Activities programs and services
3. Articulate extensive knowledge of Life Time Fitness programs, products, services, policies, and procedures
4. Ensure team members adhere to activity curriculum, teach classes in a fun and inviting manner, and encourage participants to consistently attend classes
5. Ensure team members initiate, develop and maintain positive relationships with program participants
6. Ensure team members provide accurate information on Life Time Fitness programs, products, and services
Managerial & Supervisory
1. Act as the Department Head in the absence of the Member Activities Department Head
2. Assist with planning program and activity curriculum, prepare program schedules, and register participants
3. Continually communicate and update team members on Member Activities programs and schedules
4. Assist with training team members through shadowing instructors, orientation, direction, and feedback
5. Assist in assessing individual performance, provide feedback, and recognition
6. Assist assigning staff, observing and evaluating various programs including:
· Kids Club Classes
· Birthday Parties
· Rock wall activities
· Facility rental
· Summer camps
· Leagues
· Swim lessons
7. Conduct daily inspections of rock wall and office to ensure organization, cleanliness, and equipment is functional
8. Assist with recruiting and interviewing for the Member Activities department
9. Coach and counsel staff with guidance from the Department Head
10. Make hiring, promotion, disciplinary and termination recommendations to the Department Head
Responsibilities of All Positions
* Support and articulate the Life Time Fitness mission statement * Adhere to company policies and procedures * Ensure cleanliness of the club using all 5 senses: * Sight to ensure club is neat and orderly * Sound to ensure music/sound levels are appropriate * Touch to ensure floors, countertops, etc are clean and dry * Taste to ensure food & beverages in the café are up-to-standards * Smell to ensure the club is fresh and odor free
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
· High School diploma or GED
· College degree in Education or related field preferred
Experience
· One-year teaching experience
· Prior experience in a related field, park and recreation program experience preferred
Licenses / Certifications / Registration:
· Water safety instructor certification
· Lifeguard and First Aid
· CPR-PR
· CPR/AED certified
· Oxygen Administration certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
* Excellent customer service and promotional skills * Ability to resolve conflicts in a professional, tactful manner * Ability to build relationships with members * Ability to effectively build teams * Ability to teach a class effectively * Comfortable working with all age groups * Ability to operate a personal computer * Knowledge of standard office procedures and computer software * Ability to multi-task and learn quickly
